I like “Retirement easy” and that’s exactly what this recipe is plus, you can save a little money because you don’t need those Sloppy Joes packages.

Here’s the ingredient list:

11b (450 g) lean ground beef
1 onion, cut in 1/4-inch dice
1 cup water
2/3 cup ketchup
1 tbsp cider vinegar
1 tsp each: Worcestershire sauce, dijon mustard
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/8 tsp hot pepper sauce
4 hamburger buns, split

Brown beef in large skillet on medium-high heat 5 minutes, stirring often to break up meat.
Turn heat to medium if bottom of skillet starts to brown too much.

Drain well in fine sieve over medium bowl. Discard fat in bowl.

Return meat to skillet on medium heat. Add onion. Cook 1 to 2 minutes, stirring often. Add water, ketchup, vinegar, Worcestershire, mustard, salt, garlic powder and hot pepper sauce.

Turn heat to medium-low. Cook, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes or until onions are tender and mixture is thick and juicy but not watery.

Meanwhile, toast insides of buns under broiler until golden.

Place bottoms of buns on 4 serving plates. Top each with a quarter of the meat mixture. Replace tops of buns.

This is one of my husband’s favourites.
