Positive Thinking and Visualization - a powerful combination

The reason my my retirement jobs website that centers of achieving creative contentment during retirement leads with a chapter on the Power of positive thinking coupled with the art of visualization, is because I learned the hard way that no matter what your goals, you have to be in full control of your life.

Sounds easy, but it was, at the beginning, the most difficult task I have ever untaken. The assignment is ongoing but the mission has been made easier by developing a mental attitude battle plan that is briefly explained on the website's positive thinking page and my journal on the value of visualization.

I openly declare, at the moment my assignment in this world ends, I will be able to say - "it was a great ride - no complaints or regrets and would be happy to live it again."
Even so, as my life-bettering challenge came at the beginning of my retirement, I wonder what level my life and career would have reached had I "known-then-what-I-know-now." - in other words, although it's never too late to take charge of your life, the sooner the better.
In my research I continually come across information and advice that takes me on a personal journey of years gone by.

Example: Dr. Harry Stanton of Hobart University explained to a group of students the importance of thinking positive thoughts, especially during the writing of exams.

"The most common problem is that when people think of the exam they think of failure and that's like a direct command to the deep unconscious to fail," Dr Stanton said.

"The best way to counteract that is every time the exam comes to mind, swing into a scenario of success -- imagine yourself writing fluently, answering the easiest question first, getting the results you want -- switch away from the failure scenario."

Simply put, you have to believe in yourself and what you goals. However, I found that this is not an easy assignment. It takes time, dedication and a plan. To truly energize yourself with the power of positive thinking you must take advantage all the aids available and as noted in my visualization journal.I found the most valuable weapons in the development of positive thinking is the art of visualization.

Visualization is now common in sports. Matt Hansen had back-to-back rounds of 68 at the PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament to earn a spot on the PGA TOUR in 2006. he recently told PGATOUR.com - "About eight months ago, my sports psychologist, Glen Albaugh, suggested I make my message, "You've reached Matt Hansen, future PGA TOUR player." Some people may find it arrogant but you have to believe in what you want to do. It became a conversation starter and a constant reminder of my goal. When I made the TOUR, he said the next message has got to be "You've reached Matt Hansen, future PGA TOUR winner." I changed it today. I believe in the power of positive thinking."

Building a positive attitude - its not easy - time, dedication and a plan is all you need to take control of your life.
