Goal Setting Plan
Create your own road map to success.

"A goal properly set is halfway reached"
Abraham Lincoln

Goal Setting PlanGoal Setting Plan - the basics.

Statistics show that very few people – some researchers say less than 3% of business people in the United States, have created a goal setting plan – but the ones that have, are usually the most successful.

Goal setting is like preparing a road map – a guide to show you where your going and if you’re planning to create a retirement job – be it a website or some other home based business – it’s imperative that you have such a blueprint.

"Know your goal, make a plan and pull the trigger"
Phil C. McGraw

On the Wikipedia page dealing with goal setting theory it’s noted:

“For goals to increase performance, it is imperative that they are difficult and specific.
Performance tends to be lower with easily attained goals than with more difficult goals.
A vague goal is not likely to enhance performance.”

To develop an effective goal setting plan:

  • State your goal in clear and understandable language – don’t be vague – but make it achievable.

  • Make you goal as challenging as possible so as to maintain interest and not be bored.

  • List possible obstacles, solutions and action steps that will help you reach your goal – what information will you need – how much research will be required?

  • Include all your concerns and fears and list possible sources of assistance needed to help you overcome such worries.

  • Put your plan on paper and get into action.

If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts,
liberates your energy and inspires your hopes.

Andrew Carnegie

As this website is centered on building a creative retirement job online or offline – either during retirement or before retirement – we’ll aim our goal setting plan at that target-

First consideration is to center on retirement job possibilities based on what truly interests you – that you're passionate about.

We all know something about something – sell your experience and expertise – a hobby perhaps offering a product to sell or a “How to” guide – maybe you want to promote someone elses product or services via affiliations – the opportunities are unlimited and when it comes to the internet it’s not only the written word but digital – video, DVD, CD’s.

If you plan to build a website, list what research will be need according to your computer skills.
In my case, I knew little about Ecommerce and absolutely nothing about building a website – fortunately, a chance comment in an email message sent me Site Build It that supplied all the information I needed as well as providing all the intricate techie duties – all I had to provide was the creative part.

In that regard, take a moment to view this video:

Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.
Anthony Robbins

Another important listing in any goal setting plan is to place - in an appropriate position - the main purpose of your endeavour – example, for many people, the possibility of banking extra retirement income may be the objective – for others - extra money to pay for that special trip you always dreamed of – paying the monthly car payments – the list goes on and on.

Another key addition to any retirement job goal setting plan is to add - Visualization - a picture that represent the goals you are planning to achieve - visualization is a great opportunity to make the process fun and to be creative!

Also add inspirational quotes for extra motivation.

Goal Setting Plan Quotations:

“Many people fail in life, not for lack of ability or brains
or even courage
but simply because they have never organized their energies around a goal.”

Elbert Hubbard

“Think little goals and expect little achievements.
Think big goals and win big success.”

David J. Schwartz

“Goals are not only absolutely necessary to motivate us.
They are essential to really keep us alive.”

Robert H. Schuller

“To be come fully alive a person
must have goals and aims that transcend himself.”

Herbert A. Otto

“Think little goals and expect little achievements.
Think big goals and win big success.

David J. Schwartz

Goal Swetting Plan
Remember that any goal setting plan is just that – a plan – unless there’s dedicated follow through with long term action it remains nothing more than scribbled words on a piece of paper.

"Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so shall you become. Your vision is the promise of what you shall one day be; your ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil."
James Allen
