eBay Summary - build a home based business for a productive and profitable retirement.

Ebay Summary Ebay Summary Ebay Summary

Here's an eBay summary for a Positive, Productive and Profitable home based business. I decided on this eBay chapter after driving behind a car with two “retirement’ stickers on the back bumper.

The sticker on the side of the grey haired driver read; “Retirement – less wealth - more woman.” On the side of the grey haired passenger the sticker read; “retirement – less money - more man.”

I felt like waving them over and give them an eBay summary right there and then.

When you are together 24/7 during retirement, life runs a great deal smoother when there's at least one major "together" creative challenge - especially if that challenge earns extra income.

This eBay summary starts with my involvement with ebay as a home based business. I was intrigued with a story in a Florida newspaper about a retired couple who claimed to be grossing over $60,000 through Ebay by reselling items that they found at auctions, flea markets and garage sales.

During my follow-up interview they explained the wife was the buyer - the husband handled the ebay listings – they both worked the packing and shipping. Sometimes they would travel together or separately searching for items. They were having a great time – each day filled with learning, excitement and promise.

My wife and I follow somewhat the same pattern for our part time home based business on our site - thewwfamily on eBay

We enjoy travelling throughout southern Ontario in the summer and Central Florida in the winter participating in auctions and estate sales and cruising weekend garage sales.

We’re not in the Florida couples 60,000 dollar revenue level as we list only a limited number of items as they become available. However, we are showing a profit margin of 47% which is not too shabby for a home based business. However, I would be amiss if I didn't mention in this eBay summary, that for us, its the creative challenges, traveling and meeting new friends that’s worth much more in the “happy retirement” scheme of things.

I want to stress that ebay is built on a foundation of honesty, integrity and communication. When a sale is completed to everyone’s satisfaction, the two parties exchange feedbacks.

eBay positive feedback

eBay negative feedback

Positive feedbacks are the heart of your eBay identity – if negative feedbacks block the productivity arteries of your eBay ID not even open heart surgery can save you.

Communication can mean the difference between positive and negative. If you are a seller, always keep your customer informed every step of the way and answer all inquiries honestly and as soon as possible. If you’re a buyer and you are unhappy with your purchase, Email the seller right away to discuss your concerns. Never post a negative without giving the seller an opportunity to discuss the problem.

At our eBay site we have one negative after more than 300 transactions. It was posted at the beginning of our eBay life and the buyer never contacted us before posting – she didn’t even answer our Email asking her why she didn’t contact us before posting. You have an opportunity to post a response to a negative which we did and it’s on file.

Honesty, integrity and communication – that’s the heart of eBay.

Let’s get started on this eBay summary.

One misconception is that eBay is easy. That’s only half true. It’s easy if you’re only interested in selling a few things around the house or you’re a once-in-awhile shopper – but its not that easy if you want to have a highly successful home based business as an eBay seller or shopkeeper - even a super bargain hunter.

To be successful on eBay you have to take the time to study before you jump in. You’ll find, as I did, it’s time truly well spent if you learn more than just the basics.

• However, for those of you who may be new to eBay, let’s start with the basics. eBay can do a better job of teaching the fundamentals than I can, so I’ll guide you to

eBay Canada eBay Canada education center.

eBay - UK eBay UK education center

Here you will find all the “basics” of buying and selling along with several audio tours – it costs you nothing – even registering with eBay is free.

One of the most important pieces of advice any eBay summary should list, - take your time.
If you want to establish a profitable home based business on eBay take it slow and steady. I suggest you print out most of the pages so you can reread them at your leisure. I still have my three-ring binder with my original eBay printouts.

I’ve also learned how eBay can be a valuable information source for other money making ideas – more on that later.

When I give an eBay summary about a home based business on eBay I sometimes mumble the “if I only knew then what I know now” cliché as I realize eBay could have been a strong creative bridge to take me seamlessly over the valley between my work years and retirement years.

For those of you with time before retirement, I urge you - don’t fluff off eBay as a home based business – the income earning possibilities are endless.

Millions of people who have taken the time to learn, study and prepare are making an extremely good living through an eBay home based business and millions more, who have taken the time to learn, study and prepare are supplementing their income allowing them to do things they can’t budget for with their regular income.

For those of you already retired – it’s not too late – again, I’m proof of that.

eBay Summary Warning

When I first started researching eBay I found hundreds – it seemed like thousands - of sites promising fantastic earnings if I followed their “secret method.” One headline read; “I made 50,000 dollars on Ebay in one week.” There was no mention of any profit he made, if indeed he made any. I could sell a Porsche 911 and make 50,000 dollars in a week, but little or no profit.

The secret of success for a eBay home based business? Easy - take time to study, learn and prepare – then get into the action.

I researched and developed my online eBay home based business plan for over three weeks before listing my first item.

  • Start slow and build your eBay business as your knowledge and eBay reputation grows. Don’t even think of opening an eBay store until you have at least 50 to 100 sales that have earned you the same number of positive feedbacks.

  • A good idea is to start with buying a few cheap items so you can be awarded with several positive feedbacks to help boost your reputation as a seller.

  • As a new seller become a verified member through their ID verification process – this can be real assist in overcoming some of the restrictions on new sellers.

Like any money making undertaking, eBay success is based on how much time and effort you put into it, and time and effort is fuelled by interest and passion. This eBay summary continues -
