I first thought of recipes as a Retirement job idea while attending an estate auction.

During the auction preview, I inspected a box of odds and ends and discovered a small wooden box covered by dish towels and various used kitchen utensils.
Opening the lid, I found a pile of hand written recipes on yellowing paper - each recipe was dated along with the source.

Apparently this was a collection of family hand-me-down cooking tips, some going as far back as the early 1800.

This collection is now on my “to-do” list as a possible Victorian cooking E-book or website.

First, before we get to other examples of recipes as a retirement job, allow me to introduce you to one of my home based businesses – republishing “Public Domain” material – (see Public Domain chapter)

The objective for Laura Warnke was to use the internet to build a home business that would create enough income for her to stay at home with her son – the initial research took nearly three months.

Debbie Beaston of Garland, Texas has what she proudly considers the number one top secret BBQ sauce in Texas.

What impressed me was that Debbie is so proud of her product, she lists all her contact numbers – no hiding behind some mail drop for her.
Also she has marketed her recipe with a host of extra recipes to make the package a great value for her small fee – including side dishes with such intriquing names as -

A “chuckle” Time Out; While on the subject of BBQ’s, this reality check was submitted by Elma, of Halifax, Nova Scotia – a womans’ view of her “day off” when her husband decides to host a BBQ party.

Here’s another Ebook idea starter that takes the cooking recipes topic one step further. This retirement job was created by Patrick Chong who was born and raised on the beautiful tropical Polynesian island of Tahiti.

Liz and her parents established a wet fish retail business back in 1984 and later, a fish delivery business now operated by her stepson.

It was during this time that many of her customers complained about their lack of knowledge on how to properly cook seafood and Liz responded by printing a series of seafood cooking recipes and photocopying them for customer handouts.

With a teenage son at home, (he needs me more now than he did when he was 5) Liz needed to be home more and the internet provided that opportunity.
